I was a visiting student research collaborator (VSRC) at Princeton University with Prof. Minjie Chen from January to March 2024, as part of my Ph.D. journey. During my time at the Princeton Power Electronics Research Lab, I focused on designing and controlling grid inverters based on advanced power electronics for offshore wind power systems, collaborating with two other Ph.D. candidates. Our project involved developing a novel grid-tied inverter topology using dual active bridge (DAB) and cyclo-converter topologies, with control strategies based on impedance-based stability analysis. I found great satisfaction in contributing to this project, which is still ongoing, and I’m pleased to know that my research results will be utilized in the future.
My experience in Princeton was truly enriching, providing me with valuable insights into the differences in university life and culture between Europe and the United States. I am grateful to Stichting 3E for their support, without which this opportunity would not have been possible.
