My name is Ashish John Thomas, and I graduated last year from TU Delft with a Master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering. I am currently working as a trainee at TenneT TSO B.V. My thesis, titled “Flyback-based Input Series Converter as a Wide Input Auxiliary Power Supply,” was accepted for a poster presentation at the PCIM Conference 2025 in Nuremberg, Germany.

The PCIM Expo & Conference is one of the world’s leading exhibitions for power electronics, attracting top minds from both industry and academia. It was a privilege to be part of this event, where I had the opportunity to learn from and network with pioneers in the field who are shaping the energy transition in Europe.

A personal highlight of the conference was the keynote lecture by Professor Johann Kolar from ETH Zurich, who spoke about the challenges of sustainable growth from multiple perspectives. He emphasized the importance of doing “more with less” in the power electronics sector, promoting a circular economy approach and the use of advanced tools to drive innovation. As someone deeply motivated by sustainability, his message strongly resonated with me, and I look forward to sharing these insights with my colleagues at TenneT.

During my presentation, I had the chance to share the findings of my research, receive valuable feedback, and engage in meaningful discussions about potential future improvements. It was a proud and fulfilling moment that reinforced my aspiration to grow into an expert role within a team and contribute further to innovation and research at TenneT.

I am sincerely grateful to Stichting 3E for the financial support that enabled me to attend this important event. The experience has significantly contributed to my personal and professional development as an emerging expert in the field of Electrical Engineering.
